BE INFORMED AND SAVE LIVES
WHAT IS NARCAN?
Naloxone (Narcan) is a crucial medication that can save lives by reversing opioid overdoses, including those caused by heroin, fentanyl, and prescription painkillers. Normal breathing can return to normal within 2-3 minutes.
The drug is most commonly administered as a nasal spray, and is both safe to use and important to have for testing for substance cross-contamination.

WHAT ARE OPIATES?
A class of drugs that are chemicals – natural or synthetic – that interact with nerve cells that have the potential to reduce pain. Healthcare providers typically prescribe these medications used to treat moderate to severe pain by blocking pain signals in the brain. Common examples include oxycodone, hydrocodone, morphine, and fentanyl.
Short-Term Use: Effective for managing acute pain, such as after surgery
Risks: Limited evidence for long-term benefits and potential side effects like drowsiness, constipation, and dependency
Understanding these factors can help you make informed decisions about pain management
